Melinda Matyas, 'How does it feel to be famous Mr. Van Gogh?', Original Oil on Canvas, 2019 - Appraisal Value: $8K

The title "How does it feel to be famous Mr. Van Gogh?" is self-explanatory, as well as his answer showed at the bottom of the painting.

This is the set up of an imagined interview with Vincent Van Gogh who is standing in front of his sunflowers.

Melinda says:

"I've seen the Van Gogh exhibition not a long time ago in London. Even though it was amazing, I left the exhibition with sadness inside. I saw huge crowds around some of his paintings; there were so many people that it was impossible to get closer. There were shown grandiose articles explaining where his style was actually formed, whether in London or Paris...

For me his style was formed in misery because no one appreciated his talent while he was alive. That's what the painting is about."
